What you need
- ?cup water;
- 1 stock cube;
- ?cup powdered milk;
- 1 egg, beaten;
- 1/3 cup margarine;
- 3 cups of flour (whole wheat is best but any plain flour will do); pinch of salt (optional);
- clean hands.
What you do
- Dissolve stock cube in hot water and pour over margarine.
- Stir in powdered milk, salt if using it, and the egg.
- Add flour gradually, half a cup at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Knead with your hands 3 to 4 minutes, adding more flour if necessary to make very stiff dough. You can pat it out to about half an inch thick (1.5 cm), but it’s much better to use a rolling pin.
- Then cut pastry into Christmassy shapes using a sharp knife or a cutter.
- Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 160 degrees for about 50 minutes.
- Allow to cool and dry out until hard.
- It’s best to keep the biscuits in an airtight container eg. a jar that you could decorate with a Christmas theme or snap-lock plastic lunch bags which you could simply wrap.
- Wrap for Christmas! Don’t forget to help your dog open the present!
